  13. This is gonna sound very counter intuitive but I’m grateful that I became homeless. Back when all of this started in January I wasn’t sure what wold happen to me and my family. However my brother and I persisted and we got into youth shelther. I’m grateful to have my brother with me so that we could support each other during our time there, I’m grateful for the dinners I’d have with my family so that we can catch up and bond. I’m grateful for the people and friends i made at the shelter and the transtional house I currently live in. I love them so much because they’ve become a family to me. I’m grateful that I could have a job that helps me support myself and i’m grateful for knowing I’ve been through rock bottom and I can bild myself up

    • Sounds like a great outcome, cheers! to your courage and positivity. I moved 6 times over the last 4 years, I know how the uncertainty can cause the upsets in me. Nevertheless, after the cloud has passed, I know those were opportunities that had helped me in many ways. Bravo Bryan! Wishing you Happy Days ahead!

Its not easy to find another job and I have been job hopping for quite some time. Though I have and still am having a miserable time, I am discovering more about my strengths and learning to be independent.

  18. Marry Christmas guys

With the Grace of the Almighty God, I Graduated 2011 was unemployed. But in november 2012, I was listed in the first list of my Dream job, the training will commence January 2013. To God Be The Glory..

I am most grateful for being able to live up Christmas today, and wishes everyone the same too and taking my mum for short holiday and catching up with my brother’s family which I haven’t meet for close to 2 years. I am spending my time in morning cheering Christmas and visiting some old folks too.

Also, it is reflection time for me at the moment, checking up quiet places, writing observations of myself and my life journey, and thinking the next step of my journey next year during the quiet period. Plus catching up with friends that I haven’t meet for some time.

Wish all PE members here good Merry Christmas Day and a positive New Year 2013.

I am the most grateful for my daughters. They are my life. They are independent, young adults making their way in this world, and I am so proud of them. I am also thankful for my parents, my job, my writing opportunities, and the roof over my head.

  22. I’m most grateful for the people around me – my friends, parents and teachers for what they have done to shape me into a better person this year. :)

  23. JadePenguin 13 years ago

That at the end of the year, I can finally see some massive progress in myself. I’m finally in a state where I feel very happy most of the time, where everything I do inspires me, where I’m less judgemental of people and can socialise better, where I am fine being alone. I don’t have complete control over my mental states yet but I feel I’m getting close :)

All through some tough experiences but every time, I come out better than ever!

    • Very nice to hear the things you are grateful for this year. I hope I can also accomplish most of that next year. Merry Christmas! :)

  24. I am grateful for:
    1) Meeting my ex – despite our downs, he had taught me so much, changed me for the better by making me strive harder and higher (and I’m already a high achiever so that’s a bit), for having confidence in me to be a better persona nd have the career of my dreams (Management consulting), and really, for giving me a love I never imagines possible. It was a wonderful time we spent together and I am honoured.

    2) For moving out and losing one job (I work several as a student but this was my main one) because even though I stressed, and panicked and cried and worried, I LEARNT. And as Celes says “Fear, uncertainty and discomfort are your compass towards growth”. That’s SO TRUE, and grow I did :)

    3) My mom’s fiance. He is AMAZING. They just met, got engaged, moved in together in one go (very fast lane haha) but he adores her and adores the family. He showered mom with presents and gifts and WANTS to see her (and tries to make her) relax for once and not run around doing things for others. I love that. I love that mom has finally found someone that treats her right and will give her her dreams (Paris and shopping!) and the wedding she has never had. She really deserves it. And he has brought the family together! I’ve always hated coming home but now I LOVE IT.

    4) Meeting my current boyfriend, haha he just asked me today at midnight so it’s all new, but we’ve known each other for a few months. He’s a gem. He’s caring, he’s affectionate, he hates to see me cry (and I think with my exes I’ve been conditioned to think it’s normal for them to ignore or press on when I cry), and we’re totally compatible. I think he’s the person that I’m the most me I’ve ever been :) I do hope this one lasts.

    • Kyoko-san (I’m guessing you are Japanese).

Omedetou gozaimasu. On your new boyfriend, and your mother’s new fiance.

I think it’s great to hear a man take care of a woman’s need. I have this on my phone and I hope one day for myself I will be able to live this quote.

“Relationships aren’t for getting things. They’re for giving things. Never fall in love to make yourself happy. Fall in love to make the person you fall in love with happy.”

It sounds like you and your mother has found this man.

      Ken-chan

    • How lovely Kyoko :)

  25. Please unsubscride me from this program Thank you

  26. Merry Christmas Everyone,

I am most grateful for my daughter going to University in the USA, having a nice new home and the PE community with all their insights and reflections during the year, especially Celes, it has helped me enormously, thank you.

  27. I’m grateful of the hard decisions that I had to make this year. A new quote that keeps floating through my mind is “I am Thankful for the difficult people in my life. They have shown me exactly who I do not want to be.”

I’m grateful for my job. Because It gives me resources to make things happen. Things that I want to do. Things that matter to me.

And I’m grateful for my best friend. Who has supported me throughout this difficult time in my life. Showing me that all good deeds are being noticed, appreciated, and making a difference in people’s lives. This is the first time in a long time, when the two words “thank you” have a positive intent behind it. That I can start trusting the positive intention from people who really do care about me.

  28. I change my self and i tried to adopt good habbits and remove bad habbits . This is the only thing for which i am most greatful and will continue in 2013 . I learn that i can only change my self and present .

    • Vasundhara 13 years ago

      Dear Fazal,

“I learn that i can only change my self and present” – 200% Correct – Its a fact and everybody should start practising this attitude which will help them and as well as others.. !!! :)

  29. I am so grateful for all the activities my daughters got to participate in. These include 4-H camp for my oldest, a family trip that my youngest daughter hasn’t gotten to go on, family reunions, a trip to see their father in N.C. and even the Fall Festival in this area.
As far as my exercise post in the last questions: I am proud to say, I went on a field trip with my oldest daughter’s 5th grade class and we hiked 8 miles on the New River Trail which is a gorgeous Trail in this area, that is much longer than 8 miles.
I am grateful for my lifetime friend who is more like a sister to me and my god daughter and god son. I am thankful for my great god son who turned 1 on December 16th. I am so grateful for a friend I met in June who has become one of my best friends with his intelligence and making me see things different about myself. I am thankful for the few family members I have left that are close to me and haven’t passed away.
I am thankful for my health, because I am in very good health according to my family doctor although I have not really done anything to maintain my health.
I am thankful to wake up each day to my daughters and my boyfriend and truly grateful for the things I do have in life. Each day is a blessing.
I am also very thankful for finding Celes on facebook 2 years ago and enjoying and growing from her wisdom and these challenges.

  30. In 2012, I am most grateful for being alive to still upgrade myself and getting back on track with my daily life after suffering an unexpected break-up (from a two year relationship) ;)

    • Break up’s are hard, especially when you invest so much time into the relationship. It looks like you are using this as a positive and a way to better yourself. Good luck!!

      • You are right about investing so much time into the relationship that’s why it was hard for me to accept that it has ended for the first few months. Thanks for replying and Merry Christmas! :)
