This is the roundup post for the 21-Day Positivity Challenge held in March 2012, where we work on being positive for 21 days. The challenge is now over but you can do the tasks in your own time. Visit the overview page for all the challenge tasks.
21DPC Day 21

(Image)
Hello everyone! Welcome to the round-up post for 21-Day Positivity Challenge (and the last post for 21DPC)! :D
Your Feedback Needed
As usual with all challenges at PE, I need your feedback, which will help me in creating bigger, better challenges in the future. While Day 21’s task was on your 21DPC journey, today’s round-up task is to get your feedback on the course itself.
Regardless of whether you committed yourself to the full 21DPC or only filed your progress on several days, I want to hear from you. Please take a few minutes to answer the following 5 questions (the more detailed your feedback, the better it’ll be):
- How was 21DPC for you?
- On a scale of 1-10 (where 10 is most useful and 1 is not useful at all), how useful has 21DPC been in helping you in your personal growth? Why did you give that score?
- What did you like most about 21DPC?
- What did you like least?
- Anything you would like to see at PE moving forward?

April Challenge?
For April, I’m considering having a cultivate [X habit] challenge, whereby X habit would be the habit is voted by you. The habit can be a new habit you want to cultivate or an existing habit you are semi-doing now but want to push it to the next level. The challenge will be in the same style as the meditation challenge last October (2011), whereby everyone gets to create their individual habit journals in the forums, and journal about their progress in the 21 days. Also, there will be the daily group threads where everyone fall in and get their progress recorded in the group progress chart.
The challenge will not cover any theory on the X habit or on cultivating habits (all this information on the latter can be found on Personal Excellence, in the habit cultivation series) – but rather, it’s all hands-on, where you take action on the habit you want to cultivate, apply what you have been learning from the articles at PE, and ingrain that habit as a permanent part of your life.
What do you guys think about that? Will it be something you will be interested in?
As for the habit itself, I’m considering either having a *specific habit* for the entire challenge (if that is the case, it will be based on the majority vote), or an anything-goes habit challenge where participants pick whatever habit they want as they enter the challenge. Like reading, writing, meditating, exercising, singing, making friends, whatever. Since everyone has varied interests, and since we have already covered a number of habits in the past challenges, I’m more inclined towards the latter idea right now. Let me know what you guys think.
I’ll take your feedback into careful consideration before making the next announcement for April challenge (if any – no guarantees). If it goes ahead, the announcement will be up sometime early next week, after 21DPC closes completely and everyone has a few days to rest/tend to their stuff before the next challenge starts.
1. How was 21DPC for you: Wonderful experience for me! Helped me focus on myself and what really matters and that it is in me to make my happiness a priority. Gave me a kick in the butt to make it happen!
2. On a scale of 1-10 (where 10 is most useful and 1 is not useful at all), how useful has 21DPC been in helping you in your personal growth? Why did you give that score?: I guess I would score an 8. This challenge has been helpful to get me to open up to my personal issues and to focus on the positives in my life.
3. What did you like most about 21DPC? Putting my thoughts and feelings in writing and saying how I really feel:)
4. What did you like least? It would have been nice if more participants would interact with one another.
5. Anything you would like to see at PE moving forward? Something like a group therapy interaction where you share problems and chat about ideas etc.
Wht not creating more other challenges? Some examples: 21-day Habit Challenge, 21-day More Sleep Challenge, 21-Dax Exercising Challenge and so on and so forth, 21-day Talent Developing and so on.
It has been a really good experience for me – although at this point in my life I am in the process of clearing a lot of stuff and I many times felt like I was sounding very negative – I was truly being honest about where I am at now. I kept wanting to claim “special circumstances”! :)
I’m going to call it a “7” – I am at a special place on my journey right now – the questions got me thinking about somethngs I needed to think about, and looking at & being honest about somethings that I am experiencing that I would typically sugar-coat – some of the questions forced me to be honest about things I would otherwise have sugar-coated in order to make others feel comfortable and to make myself more likable to others.
The way the questions got me thinking about things I wouldn’t have otherwise visited on my own.
Expressing some of the dark places I am visiting currently – I felt bad sharing what I thought to be negative experiences when this is all about being positive.
Thank you so much for the wonderful resourece you share with the World – just keep doing what you are doing, please! :)
Oh, this was a lovely experience!
I’d rate it a 9. Not sure that I want to label it “useful”, but rather as delightful … educational … interesting … insightful …. and most of all, inspiring.
I loved the comments from the other participants. We all walk different paths, and it really opened my eyes.
Unfortunately, I had time constraints for some of the dates, which was my own negative.
Thank you very much! Hope to particiapte in the next challenge.
On this challenge, I get to know how the young people are thinking nowadays. The struggles they go through, etc. All seems familiar cause they are all the same stuff that I went through personally, too.
You’ve done an excellent job with dedication and great professionalism. As always! For me, it’s really to fine tune and review my positivity level. Over the years, I’ve built my positivity and have always looked on the brighter side. Life experiences has taught me that so it’s in me for good.
What I like most about 21DPC is the interaction, the support and how everybody started being more positive towards the end of the 21 days. I believe the challenge has worked well for everyone who participated actively. Or, at least they are on the way to being more positive.
What I like least was in the beginning when everybody started to air all their negativity. The questions draw those toxins out. However, in the end, it was all good for everybody. Everybody get to ventilate their grievances and get it out of their system. So, I believe you did a lot of good here.
For future challenges — anything on self-improvement is always great. How about something on self-love? From this challenge, I can see how important self-love is and how young people nowadays do not love themselves enough.
Thank you, Celes, for hosting this challenge. It has been enlightening and inspirational for me overall. I am humbled to know how many young people are fighting their battles and the more so we should not be judgmental but try to understand what they are going through and where they are coming from.
I wish everybody the best as they move forward in their journey.

Oh, I forgot to mention, thinking of at least one positive thing in your day is a very good exercise. That puts people to look at the positive though their day may be otherwise! It’s like having a gratitude journal and you list out what you are grateful for the day. Maybe, the next time, you should increase it to 3! This is one of the things I like about the challenge!
I LOVE the “self-love” challenge idea!!!! That is a great one, Asni!!!
Yes, the airing out of negativity did clear a lot of space for the new energy of positivity to take root. The old roots of negativity had to be rooted out, and the pulling of those roots takes hard work, but I have discovered how SO worth it, it is, to have that negativity OUT, root and all, and not water any new little negative weeds that may try try try to land and take root in the GARDEN OF POSITIVITY!!!!!! NO, NO, NO, NOT in my garden!!!!!! ;)
I also love and appreciate the interacion and support the participants have shared with eachother in this 21DPC! :D It has been very inspiring! Much good is happening on this site created by our precious jewel, Celes, and her brilliant, inspired vision!!!! I am continually in awe!
Thank you for your positivity and optimism, Asni. We need all that expression here and in the world!!!!
How was 21DPC for you?
I thought it was a fantastic experience. It really helped me look objectively at the way I see the world, and to make a conscious decision to stay positive, cultivate gratitude, and pursue and share happiness :)
On a scale of 1-10 (where 10 is most useful and 1 is not useful at all), how useful has 21DPC been in helping you in your personal growth? Why did you give that score?
I find it really hard to put a numerical score on it. I guess I’d have to say 10, to be honest. Yes, there were questions that I didn’t find particularly helpful, but everyone’s different, and I wasn’t expecting to find everything 100% useful. If it was 100% useful for me, it probably wouldn’t be for someone else! ;)
What did you like most about 21DPC?
The tasks to do after answering the questions (even though I was a bit lazy with them :shy: ) and thinking up a positive thing about each day.
What did you like least?
This is a really minor issue, but I would have loved it if this challenge took place over in the forums, like January’s Fitness Challenge. I just find it a far more convenient interface for interacting with everyone, and a bit more personal too. :)
Anything you would like to see at PE moving forward?
I think you’re doing a fantastic job as it is. I really like the idea of a ‘Habit Cultivation’ challenge, although I’m wondering if it would be better to have all the participants choose their own ‘habit.’ I think assigning one at the beginning of the month would be a bit restrictive, perhaps.
Thank you, Celes – you’re a true inspiration.
It so is a conscious decision to stay positve, I agree with that so wholeheartedly!!!!!, and cultivate gratitude and share happiness!!! :D
Thanks for sharing so much of yourself and being in this challenge, Squiggle, and thanks for your effervescent name that cheers me every time!!!!! :D
Whatever challenges me, whatever feels a little (or a lot resistant) is probably THE thing that will help me get to the next level…..if I can but be willing to take action with that thing I am reticent or recalcitrant to do or say or think , even!!!!! You know what I mean????
All the best of the best, Squiggle!
How has your experience been?
How was 21DPC for you? It has been an enlightening experience as I realize that having a positive attitude is probably more important than being happy. As I’ve explained in my Day 21’s post, recognizing positivity as an attitude that will fortify us in difficult times is probably more important than being happy as a transient state.
On a scale of 1-10 (where 10 is most useful and 1 is not useful at all), how useful has 21DPC been in helping you in your personal growth? Why did you give that score? I would rate this an 8/10 as it has been an useful tool to celebrate our blessings in life, no matter how small.
What did you like most about 21DPC? I like that by the end of the 21DPC, strangers-at-first become friends-at-last.
What did you like least? I didn’t participate in Day 5 as I couldn’t even think of something nice to write of my parents. Please don’t misunderstand that i’m being judgmental of them. I’m just angry with myself for not being able to let go of the past and accept them for who they were/are.
Anything you would like to see at PE moving forward? Hmmmph. Anything that makes me a better person!
Love that “strangers-at-first become friends-at-last”!!!!!
Beautiful, lotusbleu, just like your name, just beautiful!!!!!
I’m “with ya,” dear friend, I’m “with ya,” through “thick and thin”!!!! :D
We are all so in this together!!!!
The 21 Day PC appeared just at the perfect time for me. I did however actually find it very much to be a challenge because I’m not used to thinking in such a positive way. So what appears to flow very easily and naturally for some people was definitely hard work for me – using muscles that are not well developed – literally trying to forge new neural pathways – feeling resistance to each task. I am therefore very proud of myself for finishing the Challenge.
On a scale of 1-10 in terms of my personal growth I give the 21 Day PC a well deserved 10. I give that score because:
1 – Celes, you are a lovely role model. You are obviously a good business woman, but also you are so considerate and generous too, giving all these services freely. I very much appreciate all that you do and all the hard work and care that you put in. THANK YOU. In terms of my personal growth, it is immensely cheering to participate in a site run by a person with such high integrity. By sharing your love so generously you enable us to share our love more generously.
2 – My main challenge in life is to become more positive all ways – to be my own best friend – and so to be working on tasks to do with that each day was very good for me.
3 – Reading everyone else’s posts has been humbling and inspiring – so many friendly souls of all different ages, nationalities, backgrounds and viewpoints. It’s been an education for me. I take away many good lessons and also the knowledge that we all have our struggles but we are never alone with them.
4 – Overall, doing this Challenge has helped me towards my goal of being a sunny, positive woman.
What did I like most? I liked the discipline of responding to questions and doing tasks each day.
What did I like least? I had great resistance to responding to questions and doing tasks each day.
What would I like to see on the site in future?
A tried and tested ‘first aid kit’ of a challenge with questions like “What has helped you most when you hit rock bottom?” or “How do you develop resilience?” or “What are your top ten ‘pick-me-ups when you are feeling low and depleted?”
I like the idea of each of us developing a helpful habit in April. For me though, although the subject of each Challenge is important, just as important is the continuing daily practice of self responsibility and developing helpful habits within a caring forum – whatever the Challenge is. It’s like the subject of the Challenge is the icing on the cake of daily practice!
Thanks everyone and good luck for the next phase of your journey xxx
I really like that idea of a ‘first aid kit.’ I, too, have found so much inspiration from seeing other people’s responses to questions, so I think that would be really, really valuable. :)
Dearest Lottie!
You say SO well so many things!!!! I find my own thinking in your well-chosen words, and I feel heart and soul beyond your words! SO often I hve received so much from your sharings. Thank you for all that and all that you are and all the goodness you demonstrate out in the world!!!!!
Gosh, I too find resistance a formidable teacher, Lottie! When I feel uncomfortable about something, that is often a sign there is something for me to look at, sort out! It IS just like using new muscles, establishing a new habit…it so IS. I know JUST what you mean there!!!
I lovelovelove the idea of the “first aid kit” !!!!!!!! I think it’s a brilliant idea!!! The pick me uppers could have list of fave films, books, songs, articles, videos, tips, quotes, activities, prayers, invocations, blessings, gosh the list goes on and on!!!! or maybe Celes could include somehow, in the challenge’s tasks, our listing what is the most helpful, inspiring “whatever” that celebrates what we truly love to do, how we love to express ourselves….Each day could have as a task or as part of it, some great good thing or some great little thing that is joyful to us, either in a specific category or just a random anything.
I’m in favor of doing “Pick-me-uppers” EVERY day, and often, if possible, not just when feeling low/depleted, you know what I mean! Like as a preventive measure that the low/depleted doesn’t have a fightin’ chance to survive such positivity!!!!!!!!
Oooh…I’ve rambled on!…but the idea excites me!…It’s such a positive thing, and positive things excite me, YAY!!!!
I’m sooo glad you are here, Lottie, and that you stayed throughout the challenge!!!! Congrats!!! Again, I know what you mean about the daily discipline of “showing up.” Doing something that is different, and it feeling “weird” until it feels natural, and “weird” NOT to do it!!!!! ;) I felt that too with 21DPC and with 21DFC. And I am SOO grateful today to have positivity and fitness in my daily life!!!! That is a really big big BIG change for me, especially in terms of the fitness practice. Wow. We’ve come so far, Lottie….!!!!!
MUCH LOVE and positive energy to you today and everyday!! We are in this TOGETHER!!!! ;) :D
Lottie, I like your first aid kit idea! Years ago I used to facilitate a self help group, and one day I brought in a “show and tell” item. It was a shoe box that I decorated and called “My Tool Box”. In it were all the tools I could use to feel better, such as a list of phone numbers of people I could call, a list of things I could do for fun, a list of healthy foods I could eat, some pictures, some cards with inspirational quotes, a small notebook and pen, etc. I passed it around the room and everyone loved it! I should really make a new one for myself with my current tools. It’s a visual reminder that you can hold in your hand.
