21DPC Day 20 – Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

This is Day 20 of the 21-Day Positivity Challenge held in March 2012, where we work on being positive for 21 days. The challenge is now over but you can do the tasks in your own time. Visit the overview page for all the challenge tasks.

21DPC Day 20 Question

Who do you spend most of your time with every day? Do you know the people hang out with have a direct effect on your level of consciousness? (Read: You Are The Average Of The 5 People You Spend The Most Time With.)

Hence, it is important to be conscious of who you choose to be around. The more you hang out with positive, conscious, empowering people, the more positive, conscious, and empowered you will be (and from you to them, too).

This leads to today’s positivity question:

Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

Average of 5 people

It’s now the second last day of 21DPC! Stay tuned for the last task for the challenge tomorrow! :) It will not be the final post for the challenge though – we will have a round-up post after tomorrow’s task.

Your Task:

  1. Reflect and answer today’s question(s). Write as few or as many words as needed to fully express yourself.
  2. Reach out to the 3 people you listed.
    1. Send them an email, give them a call, drop them a facebook or Twitter message, or even better still, talk to them in person if possible.
    2. Say a simple hello and check how they have been doing. Arrange for a lunch, dinner, or gathering together in the near future.
    3. Moving forward, identify opportunities where you can spend more time with the people you listed.
  3. Identify at least one positive thing about your day. It may be something small or something big – as long as you deem it as something positive, it counts. If you have more than 1 thing to share, then by all means, go for it!

Share Your Answers!

After you are done, share your answers in the comments area.

If you’re doing this at the start of the day, you can post your answer for today’s question first, then work on your positivity task throughout the day, then return at the end of the day to share your results for your positivity task and your end-of-day positive reflection.

Check out other participants’ answers. Pick 1-2 participants’ answers and make a meaningful reply to them. Engage in the discussions. This is a group course, so let’s support each other in these 21 days!

  1. I must surround myself with more positive co-workers, friends and family members.

  2. Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

I will not mention their names for as to preserve their privacy. I do appreciate them a lot and will need to spend more time with them, thanks Celes for this simple yet brilliant idea! ;) I will contact them tomorrow/on Monday.

    – my friend M.
    – my friend A.
    – my colleague S.

Wishing you lots of positive friends and regular catch ups with them!

  3. The three people that are the most postive I usually don’t see ever. They don’t live where I live. I talk to them quite often though and they always brighten my day.

One postive thing about today is I was brave.

  4. My best friend. Other than that…well…that’s just it…there is no one. I am so surrounded by negativity it is not even funny :( I am actively seeking to bring positive people into my life. I recently met several in the neighborhood, life hasn’t set us up to participate in each other’s lives other than in passing at this point. Maybe in the future.

I made a really good dinner last night and enjoyed it immensely – even though the kids hated it. Also helped my mother find the right computer for her life – hopefully!

  5. Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

    1. My sister, she has warmed up to the idea of positive and she is bringing out the positivity in me too.
2 and 3 i cant think of anyone because in my past post I have a paranoia on the degree of sincerity people have so i find it hard to get too close to people…

I hope to improve on that and identify people that we can share positivity with..

positive thing about today was that it was not as bad as yesterday… that’s positive enough right?

  6. My husband – when he is home, I try to be there for him always, I am happy to spend every minute I can with him.
My sister – we live far away from each other, she just met somebody and somehow it feels like we moved apart
My best friend – we live far away but we often email each other and I called her last week-end for 1.30h

    Positive things:
Nice evening with my husband, just the two of us
    Nice mail from my mum

  7. Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

    1. My friend, C. He is a cheerful person, always smiling and talks about things in a positive way.
    2. My friend, E. He is modest, hardworking, and never complains. He enjoys helping other people. He is an extremely funny person too.
    3. People I know in Toastmasters. The atmosphere I get from attending Toastmasters is a very positive one. Everyone is very encouraging, cheerful and non-judgmental. It is very difficult to remain in a low mood when I am in this environment.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

I enjoyed listening to some of the entertaining podcast while commuting in the train.

  8. I wrote the post, but because my house’s internet was having problem, I delayed in posting up again…

Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

3 positive people that I can spend more time with:

    My lovely mom
My best friend who just delivered a baby girl
My good friend who always takes the initiative to date me out for meal

    ===============================================================================
Reach out to the 3 people you listed.

I have the plan to date them out in April because it will be my college’s semester break. Whereas for my mom, I always have chit chat with her, almost everyday, unless I come back home late.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

I had a date of meal with my net friend, a guy that I admire. However, this is only the second time that I met him although we have known each other for more than 6 years. We had good chat, good laugh together. Ha~ I felt nice when I was with him. Still, we are good friends for now.

  9. 1. My aunt Paula, a wonderful, kind, giving, funny, positive person :)
    2. My friend Steph, a funny, energetic, positive and spiritual force :)
    3. My friend Jimi, who I’ve only met a couple of times but is a creative, positive, pro-active kind of person

I’m a day behind. One positive thing about yesterday was that I took my antibiotics without feeling sick or like I was having an allergic reaction (I’m off work sick which is why I’m behind).

I’m going to call Paula and Steph and text Jimi :)

In future I could visit Paula more often, meet Jimi at lunch as he lives near my work and I see Steph quite a lot but I could invite her round more as I’m always at hers and she’s always cooking for me!

    1) My longtime Internet friend who I’ve had the most amazing conversations with. We exchanged a few emails yesterday, talking about…err..sex! We love controversy! ^.^
    2) My bf. But he’s gone home for the holidays and hasn’t been online for days it seems :(
    3) No obvious candidate here. But I really appreciate the wealth of talks by inspirational people on the Internet, mostly because they will *always* be available (except in case of Internet failure). I watched several videos yesterday and they make me feel so alive, in addition to being educational ^.^

How to spend more time – first and third are easy, the second is not online much and unfortunately I don’t get to spend as much time with him as I’d like. But that’s his free will, so I’ll have to cherish the time we are together and find something else to do in the meantime.

Positive yday: finally had a day all to myself with nothing arranged, so I could take a nice rest :)

  11. my possitive thing today, I sold my old iMac :-) and I getting a new laptop YEH !

  12. My two sisters :-) talk on the phone and chat on internet
My best friend, meeting her this afternoon :-) talk almost every day !
My good friend, we always have plans to do something funny together !

  13. I could spend more time with a 3 couple of friends; they are very enthusiastic and in general positive people. And I will keep this suggestion and contact them to have a catch up!
Something positive: I managed to finish some work in my job and also had some progress in my personal project.

  14. Who Are 3 Positive People I Can Spend More Time With?

This one I’m really not sure about. Many of the people I encounter can be quite negative. I have some family who are always complaining. Even at work I encounter a lot of negative coworkers. I’m must find more positive people to be around though. That will be something I will work on.

One positive thing that happened to me today was I got contact lenses! The prescription is not perfect yet. The doctor wants me to try two or three different types before deciding on one. I have to say they make me feel much better and more confident about how I look.

  15. Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?
    – Yikes, that’s a hard one, as I don’t know too many people around here yet, and I’m not very social at all. A couple who we met via the Vegas Veg Meetup group come to mind, but it’s hard for them to make time to hang out since they have a kid. I could maybe try to spend more time with some of the people at Crossfit, though I’m not sure how I would approach the situation…

Reach out to the 3 people you listed.
    – Okay, I emailed the couple. That counts for two people, right? ;) Also messaged a Crossfit friend on Facebook.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.
    – Nick is making fried rice for dinner! :9 And I got to take a nap on our new love seat this morning.

    • That’s great that you already are making progress towards getting some friends..

good luck with the contacts you have made

  16. I am kind of late to the game…I signed up on PE a while back, but haven’t really participated. One of my flaws is that I am very guarded. So I set a goal this year to work on it and open up more about who I really am.

The three people that have influenced me the most and are the most positive influence in my life are…

    1. My mother. I had the best parents ever growing up and know how blessed I was. I sent her flowers to let her know how much I love her.

    2. Kari – she is an employee of mine and always works hard, holds me to high standard, and calls me on my BS when I am not being a great boss.

    3. Brent – long time friend who just does the right things, the right way and has consistently for as long as I have known him (14 years). I try to thank him regularly for his friendship.

  17. Three positive people in my life are my husband, my brother and my mother-in-law. :)

My husband is very funny and supportive. He’s also a no-nonsense kind of guy, something which I benefit from having. He is my soul mate and I love spending time with him.

My brother is like my best friend in many ways, and he can also make me laugh. He is very honest and down to earth, and just great to be around.

My mother-in-law is extremely warm and loving. She will go out of her way to make someone feel happy and welcome. I always feel loved when she is around.

Today I spent some time with my husband, talked with my mother-in-law on the phone, and I will message my brother tonight to see how he is doing.

    My positives for today:

I had a great day! The sun was shining, and everyone seemed to be in a great mood. I was training a new employee today at work who is wonderful to work with so far. :D

  18. POSITIVES :D  :D  :D  :D  :D :D  :D  :D  :D

    Today I had a GREAT experience with clothes that I FIT INTO (that didn’t fit before)!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

A GREAT feeling, which I needed, because sometimes I don’t SEE the changes as I reduce my body weight. I FEEL stronger and can DO more, and I can fit better in spaces and places where my body did not fit before, because I swim and do exercises and stay on my food plan, but when I see a photo of me, sometimes, I just feel SO BIG…which is real too, because I still have a ways to go…but still, I LOOK much bigger than I FEEL.

ANYWAY, I am THRILLED that many clothes are WAY too big, and ones that were only a dream NOW FIT and I FEEL GREAT about all that.

    OH! AND…
….my friend took some kinda portrait photos of me out in the bright sunshine with a fresh-cut stalk of bananas right from the plant, and a big beautiful fresh pineapple we bought from a local farmer here in Puerto Rico. We had fun with those images, and as I was looking at them, I could really see big changes in my face and expression and the softer, happier look in my eyes. VERY heartening!!!!

    • Im so happy for you !!! keep up the good work :-) just remember always to continue, even if you dont follow your program one day, just continue the next day :-)

I have the same struggle in my life, I have managed to loos 25kg.in 18months ! so I know how you feel.

      Enjoy your fruits

      • Thank you for this encouragement, Sara!
ALL the best to you too! :D
Hope we can keep each other posted (ooh, punny!) on our “fruits!”

  19. THREE POSITIVE PEOPLE I COULD SPEND MORE TIME WITH

Those 3 people will come from these different groups both in Puerto Rico and North Carolina

    People in Puerto Rico:
There are a few people that are new friends and that are positive thinkers. Some of them are spiritually-minded, and like to meditate. I really enjoy being with positive, like-minded people.

Another group are the people who are interested in farming, gardening, and working with the earth!!!

Oh, and also those who love nature, swimming in the ocean, being outside in the beauties of nature.

    In North Carolina:
i have a dear friend who has a sense of spirituality and we have fun chatting and doing things together as well. She likes to go in the river swimming like I so enjoy, so there’s a definite hook-up right there. :D

Also I have a few more friends who are conscious and aware souls, good conversationalists, love nature, and we love to laugh together as well! :D Love all that!

Also there are the organic farmers and people who enjoy gardening, growing vegetables and fruits and coming together to feast upon the shared bounty. SO gratifying, fulfilling, and yummy to come together like that! :D

Also, I’d like to be more active, going to the poetry slams and “authors speak nights” in Asheville, so there are opportunities like that where i could ask if someone with like interests would like to join me. :D

Oh! And there are a few of us that get together a couple of times a month or so to play a fun game like “Balderdash” and we all bring something for a “potluck” dinner first…then we have a blast laughing with games.

SO there are plenty of opportunities to get together and socialize, or attend events, etc., the list goes on and on… it is a matter of actually making a plan with someone, and then DOING stuff. :D

There is no lack of positive people, nor is there a lack of fun things to do…
It’s about coming out of my busy little world of tending to business….e-x-p-a-n-d-i-n-g my world….and being “out there” in the world of wonderful and great possibilities!!!!! :D

P.S. ALSO….it’s not “in person, but
    THE INTERNET
    Blogs LIKE PE, etc….
Here I have met some great good souls, with whom there is a true connection with who we are and what is important to us, and good sharing that has afforded insights and more, so…..that is another place where I can spend time with positive people! :D

    ****************

I will be (in process of) sending emails, a REAL, actual handwritten letter via “snail mail,” and phone calls to connect and share with like-minded, positive people. (They don’t HAVE to be like-minded, but the ones I am connecting to right now are).

  20. My sister, my best friend and my colleague.
I’m so excited as I’ll be seeing my sister next weekend and there will be a big get-together over Easter! Not sure when I’ll see my best friend but we keep in touch and share stuff with each other on Facebook, even if it’s just simply ‘liking’ the things I post, I know it’s because of her positive energy :) :) and my colleague really helps me to stay positive at work and to keep things in perspective. It’s great to work with positive people as it makes such a difference! We also spend time together at weekends and are planning on going to the beach this weekend.

I’ll be able to spend more time with my best friend and sister when I move back to my home country in June. I’m even planning on living with my sister which is so exciting! I know I’ll love to share a flat with her and to come home from work and be able to have a friendly chat and to be completely at ease in her company and really understand her. We never argue and are really supportive of each other. I’m so grateful for our close relationship.

Positive things about today: I got some really thoughtful and encouraging replies to my comment from Day 18, and I heard from a friend who is going to send me a card :)
