21DPC Day 6 Question

Today’s positivity question is:

What Makes You Smile?

Baby smiling

Your Task:

  1. Reflect and answer today’s question(s). Write as few or as many words as needed to fully express yourself.
  2. Do something that makes you smile today. :)
    • It can be one of the things you wrote for your answer to #1 or something else.
  3. Identify at least one positive thing about your day. It may be something small or something big – as long as you deem it as something positive, it counts. If you have more than 1 thing to share, then by all means, go for it!

Share Your Answers!

After you are done, share your answers in the comments area.

If you’re doing this at the start of the day, you can post your answer for today’s question first, then work on your positivity task throughout the day, then return at the end of the day to share your results for your positivity task and your end-of-day positive reflection.

Check out other participants’ answers. Pick 1-2 participants’ answers and make a meaningful reply to them. Engage in the discussions. This is a group course, so let’s support each other in these 21 days!

Look forward to reading your responses!

  1. I always smiled. But things have been so tough for me. When I am feeling down, I think of Juan and how he looked at me and smiled. To this day this still makes me smile.

  2. DAY 6 WHAT MAKES ME SMILE

So many simple everyday things can make me smile, great sunny weather, funny things that people do or say, shared moments, beautiful memories, a good conversation, sumptious food, a great day of skiing, outdoor fun, ah! the list goes on. A good joke often make me laugh alot too.

Strangely though, when I’m in the middle of a dilemma, worst as it may seem at that moment, but when it’s over, or many years had passed, and when I sit back and reminisced about how I managed to get through it, brings a big smile to my face, no matter how bad it may seem at that time.

Smiling at others and smiling in return brings the greatest joy to others and to oneself, a priceless gift that we should never underestimate. It also realeases stress and tension. Try smiling when you are feeling terrible and you will find the relieve immediately. It could be the next best cure to all your ailments.

Today, I smile because I think back of my colourful life and wondered how it would be if I were to write a book about it. :D

  3. Flowers make me smile. Every time.

Positive: Spring is on it’s way, so I should be smiling lots more!

  4. What Makes You Smile?
    – People who are smiling, especially people who I love, like, admire… My boyfriend rules!
    – My lovely kitten, especially when she wants to play, to eat or she needs a hug… (she is SO sweet)
    – Beautiful views, especially sunrises.. I love morning time when nearly everyone is still in their cosy bed and you can enjoy calm, fresh air and having the whole beautiful day in front of you!
    – Speeches (especially short, improvised ones) made by lovely people from the local Toastmasters club. I joined Toastmasters recently and will be giving my first speech in a couple of weeks. I do hope to make my audience smile at least once! ;)
    – Romantic comedies (for example, 2 days in Paris)
    – Some funny situations at work
    – Funny people with strong sense of humour
    – Hot chocolate and delicious meals!
    – Beautiful music and parties! Dancing, especially my African dances’ classes!
    – Jogging – I like running by my own and also appreciate open-air running competitions where all participants encourage one another and make a huge collective effort to run their best.
    – Various accents when people speak foreign languages (my light Polish accent in French is my best friend!)
    – Personal Excellence blog and other participants’ comments..

THANK YOU for making me smile this morning!

  5. My dog makes smile 24/7. I barely adopted him from a local animal shelter two months and a half ago and I am head over heels with his devotion, snuggles, and companionship. I can’t imagine my life without having him by my side. I only need to look at him and he gravitates towards me. I can’t believe he was surrendered by his previous owner because he is such an amazing and beautiful dog (he is a Corgi-Labrador mix and will look like a lab puppy forever) but since I will never know, I’d like to think that the previous owner just couldn’t give him the devotion he deserves. I am so fortunate to have found him and as much time and effort that is required to take care of him, I would not trade him for anything and I give him all my attention and love with great pleasure knowing that he is comfortable and in a happy place. I play with my dog everyday and he makes me smile as if it’s the first day I adopted him. He’s the best dog ever <3

Something positive about my day is that mom gave birth to my last little sister! Super super excited, I absolutely love babies and I am so glad that everything went OK. My mom is now recovering from her second C-section and my baby sister is a very strong and healthy newborn.

Music, music and more music. Spending some time with some friends, watching children’s actions ( they are just ever so happy and care free- they sort of remind us of what we are missing out on by not taking the steps to ensure that we live life to the fullest).

Now more than ever, I try to ensure that I’m forever smiling- it really has its benefits.

One positive thing about today was that I had the pleasure of spending some time with my friends.

  7. What makes me smile is the beauty innocence. A baby’s smile. The rainbow in the sky. Nature and Awesomeness of God!

    **21DPC DAY 6**
    Woah, I’m behind!
What makes me smile – mostly awesome people but also times when I try something new, accomplish something, etc :) I did do something like that by auditioning for a play. I don’t htink it went well (I’m mostly into comedy and this one was drama) but it was nice to test the waters of something different!
I guess that also counts as the positive thing of that day :)

to hear a baby giggle!

Seeing other people smile.A good humor. Little surprises from my boyfriend. Travelling and seeing wonderful spots of earth.

I will make my boyfriend smile. This will make me also smile :)

  11. When The Universe speaks go me – synchronicity! Good conversation with like-minded people.

My Dad showed up with a package containing a DVD just as I was going out to drive to his house with a package containing a DVD :) (He NEVER comes here.) :D

  12. It makes me smile to be outside enjoying a beautiful day with my loved ones, my two daughters, my best friend, and anyone else positive in my life.
Sometimes just to be out in the sun and chit chat about nothing important with my best friend is the most peaceful feeling in the world. My children say the funniest things and that makes me smile. Laughing at the past even when it wasn’t funny then, makes me smile and feel good.
With this being posted late, I did however enjoy quality time with my best friend and my daughters on a walk outside today. I felt peaceful.
My positive for today is something my oldest daughter said that made me smile. She said mom life is an oval. Lol. I said do you mean the circle of life, life is a circle? She said, I know people say that but I think it’s the oval of life. It was just too funny the way she put it and it made me smile that she can be silly and enjoy life.

  13. I’ve always had a problem NOT smiling. I smile for a lot of reasons. Sometimes it’s because of nerves or awkwardness in certain situations, but mostly it’s because something makes me happy. It could be seeing an adorable baby, a cute animal or a familiar face. I can’t help but smile when I see or think of my husband. He gets me every time. I smile when I see our pets, especially our dog Watson, since he’s such a goofy dog. I smile when I see my family and when I wake up to a beautiful sunny day. On that note, I smile when ever I wake up and realize I don’t have to work that day.

For my smiling task, I played with my dogs and then played some video games for an hour. I’ve been so busy lately, it was nice to sit back and have a little ‘me’ time.

A positive thing for the day was that my normally grumpy co-worker was in a good mood! She is usually very miserable to work with, so it was nice not feeling like I had to walk on eggshells with her around!

  14. There are certain things that make me smile. These things are singing, talking to my good friends, and helping others.

I think I will give a couple friends a call and blast the music while I clean up the house. OOOh and I making dinner so there will be plenty of smiles to go around. Hopefully I will be putting lots of smiles on peoples face.

One postive thing about today is I feel really confident about myself and I want to help others. I feel like the happy postive me that many people know!!!!

A few things that make me smile are: random acts of kindness from strangers, old couples holding hands, children and animals acting funny, giving and taking compliments and realization of different situations.

    • I love seeing elderly couples holding hands while they walk! That thought completely escaped me, otherwise I would have added it to my list.

  16. What makes me smile, some answesr : A hot shower. A child laughing. Anyone smiling to me makes me smile. Anyone being happy, that’s what makes me happy. A compliment. Sun, or snow. Seeing a little detail in a big picture. Hearing from a friend.

I won’t say what made me happy, because I’ll do it on the Day 7 challenge, so the day is over and I can say what went good after my whole day..; Not sure I’m being very clear ^^” Anyway I did take a hot shower and go in the sun, and talk a lot to some friends I hadn’t heard of in a very long while.

  17. What makes me smile?

Making l progress makes me smile. Feeling like i am making a difference brings me joy. Just feeling capable and feeling like i am improving my life and making the most of it makes me feel like i really matter. Whenever I notice I am moving closer to a goal I always get very excited and happy.

Today I took a few minutes to reflect on how consistently I have been exercising and eating healthily the past few weeks. I feel very proud of myself! That’s what I did to make myself smile today.

One positive thing that happened today was I did more sit ups today than I was able to do last week.

    i wrote a positive thread

  19. Smiling is such a great thing! It can brighten up even the worst situation and i believe its fully contagious! I try and smile everyday and i have the “laugh lines” to prove it!
not that life is all sunshine and roses but it makes the situation a bit better.

Everyday Life makes me smile..Sunshine, children, elderly, music, nature, food, drinks, books, tv, greeting strangers, hiking, cooking, travelling… just to name a few. I consider myself a pretty easy to please lady so I try and find joy in even the little everyday mundane things.

today smiles and positivity activities go hand in hand: I cooked a great big pot of soup. Sent some funny texts to 2 friends to make them laugh- got some back in return. Had a lovely time at book club discussing our latest reads over chocolate cake and wine.

  20. What makes me smile?

    rock n’ roll
    my coworkers laugh
    the laughing baby on YouTube
    doing a good day’s work
    dogs
    my long commute
    doing funny things by accident
    my lover’s smile

I did good hard work today, and found myself grinning, and saying ‘Well done!’ on my ride home.

    Positives about my day:
I need to post a lot, because several things challenged my happiness today. So I will focus on the positives:
I got to start my 2 contract positions today, with excellent results!
I got to say goodbye to a lovely new friend who will be traveling for a few months.
I really enjoy my good health. I ride 8 miles each way to work by bicycle, and it feels good!
I got to kiss my sweetie passionately in a hidden corner ;)

  21. Just talking to my Best Friend made me smile today. Although our time was short because I was in training and she was busy with work, it was just a few IM’s that made me smile. And appreciate all the things she has taught me (about life, relationships, and work) in the past several months.

Positive thing for today is that I made new friends in the training class I had today. Just knowing I have the same struggles that everyone else does makes me feel like I am part of the company, and not alone.

  22. What makes me smile? Lots of things really… a warm summer’s day, birds singing, horses, dogs, my cats. My husband always makes me smile as well. I must also include my job as a photographer, which is all about smiles!

Do something that makes me smile today.
Watching my cats play an interesting sneak-attack version of tag with each other. It was very entertaining and definitely made me smile. :D

    My positive things today were:
-Having a great day at work
-Spending some time relaxing with my husband
    -Eating pizza!

  23. What Makes You Smile?
    – Pretty much everything my dogs do. They are such amazing, loveable, funny animals. They make even the worst day better just by being themselves.

Do something that makes you smile today.
    – I blew bubbles on Azu’s (one of my dogs) tummy. :D

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.
    – I got my hair cut! I love the salon I go to, so it’s always a treat.

    • I totally know what you mean about the doggy love. I just get enough of him! Yay for our furry kids <3

      • They really are awesome. :) Dogs were definitely mankind’s greatest creation.

What makes me smile? What a difficult question to answer. Exercising, because I know that I’m taking control of my health and doing something to make myself physically stronger. Listening to music that I really connect with. Creating or finishing something, because the feeling of accomplishment is fulfilling.

Today I had some very positive interactions with friends, which made me smile on a few occasions. I didn’t exercise today because I’m recovering from being sick. I didn’t finish anything per se, but I did some cleaning. A clean house makes everyone smile!

One positive thing about today: I made a change in our household which I think will improve my three year old son’s behavior. It is going to be rough for the next several days but after that, I am looking forward to seeing some real results!

    • I have to agree with you on that!! When I do finally get myself up and exercise I have a pretty great day and I feel so accomplished!!!
I hope you recover soon and good luck with the new changes!!!!
