Baby smiling

Your Task:

  1. Reflect and answer today’s question(s). Write as few or as many words as needed to fully express yourself.
  2. Do something that makes you smile today. :)
    • It can be one of the things you wrote for your answer to #1 or something else.
  3. Identify at least one positive thing about your day. It may be something small or something big – as long as you deem it as something positive, it counts. If you have more than 1 thing to share, then by all means, go for it!

Share Your Answers!

After you are done, share your answers in the comments area.

If you’re doing this at the start of the day, you can post your answer for today’s question first, then work on your positivity task throughout the day, then return at the end of the day to share your results for your positivity task and your end-of-day positive reflection.

Check out other participants’ answers. Pick 1-2 participants’ answers and make a meaningful reply to them. Engage in the discussions. This is a group course, so let’s support each other in these 21 days!

Look forward to reading your responses!

  1. What makes me smile?

:) I smile when I see another smile. I smile when I see an old couple walking hand-in-hand. I smile when I receive a friendly text or SMS from friends or colleagues. I smile when I see my cat Orange. I smile when I see babies. I smile when I sing the hymns at church mass.

:) Seeing my friends @ the RCIA class today made me smile today.

 One positive thing I did today was to attend BodyBALANCE class early in the morning. It re-energized me.

  2. What Makes You Smile?

Everyday, I smile a lot. A simple joke told by my family members / friends, students make fun of me (my students are naughty but nice to me :P ), listening to music, read comics, watch anime, etc. I just like to smile a lot. Sometimes, even if I feel sad, I smile too. It could be a fake smile, but a smile makes myself feel better, at least for a while. Besides, whenever I see my friends smile, I smile too.

Do something that makes you smile today. :)

Yesterday, I read this post but I had no time to reply as I had full day of classes and activity after class. To me, since I smile a lot everyday, I couldn’t remember what makes me smile. Imagine, even I’m typing right now, I’m smiling alone too. :) So, I just pick one thing to talk about. Last night, I did a simple exercise, which I stood against the wall for 15 minutes. I made sure that my calves, buttock, back and my head were stuck against the wall. After I finished the 15 minutes standing, I felt that my legs couldn’t band at all. Aha… I just laughed at myself and told myself, “I would be fine after a few times of this exercise”. =.=

By the way, I believe that, laugh unintentionally would be the true laugh from our hearts, but not to do something purposely to make ourselves laughing. :) Probably, we should change our mindset while we meet something unpleasant, then give a smile to ourselves and tell ourselves that, “I will do it better the next time!”

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

I went for a community club meeting, and the club was doing well. We were able to invite the high positioned members to help out in our club meeting. After the meeting, the members gave me some advice on how to improve the club. I hope that I can do it better! I still have time to make it a success!
    :)

Petting and hugging my dog makes me smile. Her joy at seeing me can erase any sad, mad or indifferent mood.

I spent 15 minutes sitting on the floor, petting my best friend, Kimi.

Positive event of the day: I spent 15 minutes sitting on the floor, petting my best friend, Kimi.

  4. What makes me smile is small children, especially babies when they break into a smile. It is so genuine and you can see the smile in their eyes. Of course, a good joke is always good. The positive thing for the day was going to a tai chi class. The teacher had such passion and energy.

  5. Things that make me smile: The sun. Warm weather. Bantering with my best friend. Talking to friends. Spending time with my daughter. My dogs. Scrapbooking. Supporting other people to reach their dreams. Having a clean house. Reading. Quiet time. Achieving a goal.

Missed my best friend today, didn’t get to talk to him much, but I did start up some good conversation with some other friends today and trying to confirm plans for a scrapbook night with the girls this weekend.

Positive things about today: Good day at work. Talked to positive people today. Confirmed dinner plans for tomorrow with a good friend I need to catch up with.

  6. What makes me smile is the sound of children laughing. Rain falling after a hot day on a tin roof. A beautiful sunset. Horse riding on the beach. Getting a massage. Take a break to enjoy a simple pleasure that you often multitask—like a cup of flavored coffee, or a favorite snack. Watching my cat go mad and play with her little squeaky toy. Enjoying breakfast that is: muffins with melted butter, peanut butter and Vegemite. Yummo!

I decided to have Muffins this morning with melted butter and had two pieces, one with Peanut Butter and the other Vegemite.

My positive thing for the day but its still going for me – helping out a friend, offering a friendly smile to strange who needed a happy moment and visiting my Dad who is in rehab due to a stroke.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and happy day today.
    Ezza

  7. Watching Doctor Who. :-) Today I smiled because it was sunny and almost 70 in Northern Illinois! Also my positive thing for today…

  8. thinking about happy memories, thinking about a positive future, seeing people be kind or do good things for each other, seeing children play together, speaking to my friends and family, sunshine, being given a compliment (or talking to myself in a positive way), reading a good book, seeing a friend.

as part of the task – I have smiled a lot today especially when talking to my mum on skype!

Positive things for today: talking to my mum on skype ;), having an unexpectedly good day at work, a friend helped me out in a tricky situation that I was really grateful for, sitting in the sunshine

  9. talking to my friend makes me smile, a hug, it doesn’t matter who from but a hug always makes me smile.
Making fun of my brothers is a big smile too, but nothing compares with the presence of a baby, which by the way i had to spend time with one all day today and I’ve been smiling a lot. Is there a better thing than this to spend a positive  day?

  10. There are numerous things which make me smile…i had a great beginning of this day all through afternoon and i smiled numerous times but half through day i had stupid fight with my partner which is making me question some things so i have a big headache and it is hard for me tho think positive at this moment but i will try…
So things that make me smile : good book, nice people, sunny day, good food, following through on my goals , learning something interesting, having a nice day, nice cup of coffee, good workout, having a great idea, having fun with my loved ones like my partner, friends and family, seeing and feeling love, good movie, kiss and a hug, positive energy, humor, children, honestly…and many more things.

Like i sad i had many good things today which made me smile and which i can describe as positive, i got up early like i planed, i had a great workout a nice long shower i did some more things i planed, made a good and healthy soup and so on..

  11. I love this question, Celes!

The picture was well-chosen; just seeing it made me smile.

Small children and babies make me smile. The laughter of children makes me smile. My sister has a ringtone of the laughter of a baby — it’s hilarious to listen to.

She also has a ringtone our small nephews made, where they’re all saying to her, “Aunt Chris, it’s the phone, you’ve got a call. Aunt Chris, answer the phone.” And another nephew made one for her that says “Help! Help! I’m trapped in your purse!” The humor and creativity of these things make me smile.

Seeing my mom with my husband makes me smile. She is elderly and frail and he has poor health and they both try to take care of each other. It’s very sweet.

    Certain songs make me smile.

Memories. Dr Daniel G Amen advises building what he calls a library of positive memories.

I’m sitting in a cafe right now where someone has a small child with her and I keep watching them together. Tonight I’m going to bring up in conversation some positive memories.

Today’s positivity note: Sunday it snowed; yesterday was cold and grey; and today it is warm and sunny, though very windy, and I’m celebrating that! Going out without a coat! Sunshine! Also key lime pie and crocuses in bloom and wearing clothing in bright colors.

  12. The songChicken Fried by Zach brown band makes me smile, because my 3 nephews just belt it out whenever it is played. Its just the most fun thing to see and remember every time.

I cleaned my desk off- that makes me smile.

Postive for the day- got an big assignement done.

  13. My husband makes me smile, when I look at his pictures or think about him-he is my angel! The best man in the world! He makes me smile because I love him so much!

    Music <3

Listening to Taylor Swift or Adele always makes me smile from my heart (:

Right now, I'm smiling and listening to music :D Why don't you join me?

  15. Things that make me smile: first few sips of chai in the morning, surprise running into someone I know, getting invited to something fun, synchronicity, things that are truly funny, happy visualizations, my dog Heloisa

One good thing that happened today: making my chicken vegetable wrap for lunch went smoother than yesterday. Preheating the chicken first makes the wrap less soggy!

What makes me smile? Sunshine. Being outdoors in the sunshine. Spending time with my wonderful husband in the sunshine. I love hiking, camping, swimming, running…anything in the sunshine. There is nothing better then being able to walk around in the green grass barefoot, and read a good book or something. I miss summer! :o)

One positive thing about my day? The sun is SHINING and spring has sprung! It’s 70 degrees out and I’m going for a nice, long walk over my lunch hour.

Have a wonderful, sunny day friends!

  17. People really make me smile! I really enjoy being with people, everyone is so different, and interesting. I have just got home from work, I can’t begin to say how many different people I have spent time with, working on different aspects of healthcare throughout the day. I am a healthcare manager (a Nurse by trade) and there are so many facets to my job now. I spent the afternoon teaching mental health awareness to a variety of staff including a benefits worker, birth companions and a dentist – amazing views that people have, such interesting discussions! So I have smiled with all kinds of PEOPLE today!
It has been a positive day overall!

  18. There are so many things that make me happy!
Seeing the sunset/sunrise, receiving a message from my best friend who lives on the other side of the Atlantic, watching a good movie, reading a book, walking under the rain, having a meaningful conversation with my parents or my friends, watching my favourite soccer team (specially if they win), solving a problem after long hours of work, listening to my favourite songs, dancing…
I would say everything I do makes me happy in some way. But what makes me the happiest person in the world is just seeing a smile on someone else´s face.

Today I finally solved my statistics assignment, which took a lot of work. And I´m about to see the sunset when I get out of the library. And since it´s part of the challenge I´m going to sit down on the grass and actually enjoy the sunset while listening to music :D

One positive thing that happened to me today was that I got to talk for a couple of hours (while we were having lunch) to a boy who is in my class about our favourite books and movies. I had a great time, I got to know him a little better since we don´t usually talk too much and thanks to him now I have a list of movies and books to watch/read.

    • Plus reading all your comments!! Thanks everyone for sharing, I really enjoy reading your answers!!

      • You are just too sweet! C=

I myself also love sunrises and sunsets. The sky just becomes this magical world of color! (: Then the sun’s rays contrasting with the long shadows at dawn/ dusk… so beautiful!

How was your sunset with music? (:

        • It was so great! And there was almost a full moon today, so beautiful!

Thank you for asking Irvin :)

I´ve been thinking about doing my own challenge, watching the sunset every single day for a whole month, so relaxing and beautiful. The best way to forget about your problems and enjoy the moment

  20. What Makes me smile?
Many things , simple things – like the cute, cuddly baby in your post , being with my children and husband, being loved and getting hugs or giving hugs, seeing my one year old nephew on skype, playing with my dogs, being in nature, walking barefoot on the grass, reading a book, reading your posts, completing projects

It’s not been an easy day today – very hectic and stressful. The one thing that made me smile today is when my son told me silly things about his day and gave me a big hug :D

That’s also my positive thing for today

    • Kids (esp Sons for mothers) can really brighten up your day…. :D

    • A big  to you! Hope you get to relax today, plus it´s day 7´s task! This week has also been very stressful for me, I had days of going out my house at 8am and coming back at 10pm, which was crazy, so I´m really looking forward to a break!

  21. What makes me smile (this was harder to think about than I originally thought it would be):

    – seeing great friends
    – seeing my Mum’s face light up when I come in the room
    – little children laughing
    – babies smiling
    – feeling at peace with the world
    – happy, happy dogs

I’m going to play pool with a friend later, and he’s always got this massive grin on his face. It’s infectious!

Positives: – not every day is perfect, and today I am more tired, stressed and irritated than usual, but I’m keeping positive in the knowledge that it will pass….
    – being able to be there and give support to a close friend who had a tough experience

  22. What makes me Smile?…..the sunshine and riding my motorcycle, but what makes me smile the biggest are my two beautiful grown kids…..it makes my hear sing to see them growing and forging their way into the world :-D

I went to the art store and bought some watercolors and paper, going to do some art for my soul :-)

Spending quality time with my boyfriend was a very positive part of my day!

  23. Beautiful things, art, nature, harmony around me, happy couples, happy and joyous people..seeing other people smiling at me…finishing my work on time, kids, my friends, my beloved, books I love, new challenges, new sights, new places to travel, flowers…and many other little things.
Today’s positive thing was finishing an interview for an online news website – I am a youth leader and I had to talk about our social projects and activities at our club. And, it was finally done :)… see, that made me smile!

  24. What makes me Smile?

First of all, thinking about this question already makes me smile, and the cute baby picture helps too..so thanks Celes!

If I could provide a list, it will be the following..
Cute Babies, Cute Animals (cats, dogs, rabbits), Nature (blue skies, green forest, blue sea, white sands, flowers, corals, sunset), eating strawberry cheese cakes  , a good work out, seeing my friend’s comical face :p , listening to morning jokes on the radio, holding my Mom’s hand when walking, listening to my Mom’s laugh, thinking about my special someone  , watching romantic movies, and watching FC Barcelona win a football match!

What I’d do for a smile today..
Thinking about all the beautiful places I’ve been, calling my Mom, and looking at my holiday pictures!

    Positive things about today:
I finish some of my pending tasks, and plan to finish more tomorrow.
I got a chance to come home early from the office and have some “me” time..

  25. So many things make me smile………….a baby face, looking at my husband while he is sleeping, my friend’s children picture on the wall smiling right at me, the first drops of rain, my sister’s stories……I smile most of the time all day. I love to smile. Smiling creates beauty.

    Positive Things for today:

It rains after many dry weeks
The sky colours were amazing this morning
I woke up with the alarm clock and could enjoy a nice early morning before leaving for work
    Having my husband home.

  26. 6: Things that make me smile & why?

 Being with my Grandchildren make me smile, because I love them larger than life. They make me smile, they make me melt, they are so very very beautiful
 Hearing my grandchildren’s voice on the phone makes me smile because there is something beautiful about a 3 year old telling you about the day and saying I love you Nana, I love you Grandpy
 Getting a text that reads dkltfuebedb drb bcdf Dfhbf DFBF Df BDF B makes me smile because I know my grandchildren are sending me a message
 The Kissing Bridge makes me smile because it is a bridge that my hubby and I walk over every day when we take our AM & PM stroll together. He named it the Kissing Bridge because we always take time to stop there, to smile, to say I love you and to kiss… When I walk without him, I stop; give our puppy a treat and yes I ask the puppy for a kiss and say tell daddy we miss him. ( We are nuts but most pet owners will relate )
 Cacher: Our 100 pound Chocolate lab makes me smile because she snores when she is really tired and she cuddles like she is a 5 lb. Shiatsu!
 Playing racquetball with my son makes me smile because I love the one on one time with him. Playing a real competitive match with him makes me smile huge. He recently said to me that he would love to invite a buddy to play but he is not sure he could find the equiv competition he is used to. NOW THAT MADE ME SMILE!
 Sunsets and sunrises make me smile because they make me feel close to God
 Hiking makes me smile because I love to be outdoors!
 Travelling makes me smile because I LOVE to travel
 Playing rball with my girlfriend Sheila makes me smile because she is so competitive and a great challenge!
 Seeing and sharing pics on Facebook makes me smile
 Geocaching makes me smile, especially when we find them!
 My Ramoli friends make me smile esp the morning after the game when we start email mania on “Things I’ve learned “from the night before!
 My Poker buddies make me smile because we have been playing and enjoying each other’s company for so very long
 More things make me smile than sad because I lead a very fortunate life!
 Life makes me smiles because I am blessed – I am truly blessed

Today: Something that made me smile was when my hubby emailed me to say he finished staining the stairs and he was so proud of himself that he remembered this time to put his sneakers and his coat by the patio door so he could get back in the house when he was done. When he put the brush away he realized his coat and sneakers were upstairs and he had stained all the way – DOWN! I don’t get to enjoy a lot of those duh moments at his expense, I loved it!

    Smiles

    • :) :) :)
That’s a nice lil list of things that make you smile….gives me inspiration to take a lot of meaning and smiles from the lil, random things in life……..

      • Ahhhhhhhh Your response makes me smile! Thanks so much!

You have a smile on your hand : Write one on your heart and the lil things come easier!

I Hope you find lots to smile about every day! I hope life treats you kind!

Warm thoughts and thank you for your comments

        • Can already feel your warm thoughts finding their way over here….
Even more smiles to you too!
          :D :D :D :D :D :D

  27. SMILE…. :)
Something so precious yet so easy to find…as for me, i find a smile when I look at a rose blooming in the garden…especially the dark-maroonish red…looking at it provide colour to the green-brown backdrop, fluttering gently in the wind….makes me :)
Standing at the beach at sunrise especially, hearing the crashing of the gentle waves against the sand, feeling the bliss of solitude though in true essence you are in the company of the vast ocean and marine universe in front of you….makes me :)
Staring up at the stars, a starry-starry night…makes me :)
So its nature which brings a smile to my face, a pity really that we are bent upon destroying that very nature… :(
    ..
    ..
Positive DAY VI –> Fear is only a creation of the mind, its parasitic and opportunistic, giving it even the tiniest bits of space, means giving it a chance to rule….keep faith, that’s the antidote to fear…..

    • To feel nature is to feel God ….

Happy to read your love of nature @

  28. I smile a LOT :D The list of what makes me smile is endless. Few things I could think of right now are; smiling faces, receiving a compliments, spending time with family & friends, accomplishing something good, helping somebody, beautiful nature, pleasant weather, nice surprises, happy moments.

Identify at least one positive thing about my day
    Today I organized some files

    • When smiling is an habit, it’s hard to define what makes us smile. Smiling is a beautiful gift to have and to share!
You see your words put a smile on my face, I could even imagine you smiling while writing them.

      Have a nice day Suri!

      • Your words put a smile on my face too :) Thanks so much Marie
I can totally relate to what you have said about smiling.
I hope you find lots to smile every day…in every moment.
        Have a beautiful day!!!

  29. When I was younger I had a long list of things that made me happy. Unfortunately it’s on my other PC and I don’t have access to it at the moment – and a lot of them were very specific anyway – but let’s just say, I smile at lots of things :) Some examples, though:

    – Being with the people I love and having fun with them
    – When people I care about share good news
    – Cooking and eating with people (and, by extension, baking)
    – Singing
    – Dancing
    – Accomplishing things – little things from the to-do list, or big things, like getting a degree :)
    – Getting mail (which isn’t bills!) I used to participate in postcrossing.com quite a lot and should really get back into that
    – Hearing a favourite song on the radio
    – Reading beautiful poems, hearing beautiful music, seeing beautiful art
    – When the universe gives me a message – like when you go to a bookshop, open a book at random, and there’s a beautiful quote on the page you land on that really speaks to your situation
    – Sunny days
    – Dancing in the rain, then coming inside and having a hot bath and curling up with a hot chocolate and a good book
    – Behaving like a little child (finger-painting, building sandcastles…)
    – Bumping into friends by chance
    – Seeing random anonymous acts of love (last Christmas, someone left a box of mince pies on a train, with a note saying ‘Help yourself – happy Christmas!’)
    – DOING random anonymous acts of love
    – The Blossoming Thought Project (http://theblossomingthoughtproject.tumblr.com/)
    – Waking up in the morning and realising it’s a weekend and I don’t have to get up :D
    – Babies, and the way they stare at you as if you are the most interesting thing in the world, before you smile at them and they give you the most beautiful, radiant grin in return.
    – Cleaning
    – When I feel that everything is ‘right’, and that I am where I should be, doing the best I can.

So yes, there are lots of things :)

Today, I’ve been finishing off some odd jobs at home that needed doing, and I’m going to do some work on campus later before going for a swim and to my yoga class. That will definitely make me smile!

One positive thing so far about today was that I got a place on a 10km run in June! When I tried to sign up, it was already full and I went onto the waiting list. They just emailed me this morning telling me I had a place if I wanted one :D

    • That’s awesome that you got a place!

You also must be super fit… 10km run! C=

“- When the universe gives me a message – like when you go to a bookshop, open a book at random, and there’s a beautiful quote on the page you land on that really speaks to your situation”

      ^ amazing!

      • Well, I struggled to run for 10 minutes straight a few weeks ago… I did the ‘Couch to 5K’ running programme which got me up to 5km, then I’m hoping to keep on improving until the 10km :) I never thought I’d be at this point – I’m not a natural athlete ;)

        • Well, first of all, good job!

But second… wow, that’s inspiring! (: In a few weeks, you went from not being able to run straight for 10 minutes to… being able to join running events. That’s amazing in so many ways.

Yay for us non-natural athletes! :D

    • Thanks for sharing…….. quite interested on the postcrossing……..?! will check about it….^^

      • I’ve received some lovely postcards from around the world :)

  30. A few things that make me smile: Cute puppies and kittens, holding babies, seeing children with expressive faces, funny home videos, being with positive people, funny movies, surprises, memories of fun times, pictures of fun times. Today I will look through my picture album from when my children were young, and smile at those lovely images.

Positive things about today: I woke up without any back pain, and I feel energetic. I have engaging tasks to perform at work, and I am feeling good about them. I finished reading my book and I’m going to start reading a new book today.
