  1. Day 6 – What makes me smile

My almost 4 week old nephew Jordan and my almost 15 year old nephew Mitch and the fact that I will also have another niece or nephew in July.

Other things that make me smile are my cat Lucky (she sometimes does the funniest things), funny movies/TV shows, the beautiful wildlife and birds that I see in the bush outside my home each day, good music, dancing, sunsets/sunrises and the happiness of my family and friends.

There are probably others, but I just wanted to list a few.

The thing that I did today to make me smile was watching Elmo in Grouchland while I was recording it for the little ones and really enjoying it (I still love Elmo and I am 40 lol, he is just such a beautiful little character)

My positive for today was getting to see my two nephews and getting to give Jordan his bottle.

  2. Lots of things make me smile….
seeing my son playing , laughing and experimenting many things that he doesn’t know at all but pretends to be known of all,his baby words make me smile now a days more!
watching a comedy movie, show also gives smile.

positive thing- had chat with one of my best friend today, after a long time and decided to meet this sunday

  3. There are many things which make me smile. Among the first I can think of right now are: children laughing, sunrises, when my dad gives mom a peck and then they’re both acting like shy teenagers, seeing somebody of my age helping an elder, baby animals (be it puppies, kittens, baby lions, baby pandas, etc.), achieving something I’ve worked hard for/dreamed of for a long time, knowing that I’ve helped out someone who was in a difficult situation or in a bad mood, hugging those close to me (like mom, a few friends and so on).

Gonna play with my cousin when he gets back home from school. He’s left handed and I’m right handed but I’ll try and teach him how to draw something he likes (small horses, for example) :D

Today I finally went to the dentist to fix my dental caries. One down, two more to go! Also I’m trying to fix the habit of flossing everyday ;) It’s a bit difficult to pull the floss through my teeth when I want to get it out (I feel like I’m going to pull out my tooth if I don’t move slowly) but I really believe that practice makes perfect.

  4. At this moment in my life, My daughter, my son and most of all my grandbaby are the ones that make me smile. I see them and my heart fills with joy.

  5. What makes me smile?
    – things my boyfriend says/does with intention to make me smile…he’s goofy one :D
    – cute little/big animals…I love how animals act, and can do things so alike to what we do. And anything fluffy (except spiders) can make me smile. :)
    – success in things of my interest. Even one step forward to goal actually makes me smile. Lately, I’m getting use to being more hard working so I can feel that satisfaction of job well done, lecture well learned.
    – when I feel good about myself, when whole day is just lovely, when people are kind to me and want to talk.

Positive thing of the day : Talking to friends at uni, giggling most of the time :)

  6. What Makes You Smile?

Learning new things, coming across new ideas from books, articles, audiobooks, etc., writing something of value, having a great conversation, making someone laugh, reading funny posts, watching funny videos, exercising, achieving a personal goal, going for a long walk, listening to music, being grateful about life, and many more!

I practiced playing piano today. I learnt to play a bit of a new classical piece today and it was fun!

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Other than having fun playing the piano, I enjoyed rereading and gaining several insightful ideas from the book ‘Management of the Absurd’.

My dog always makes me smile – she’s adorable! She’s a Golden Retriever, a very friendly and funny dog. I love spending time with her, watching her lying on her back and twisting back and forth :D So I made sure to play with my dog today – just to smile one more time.

As for good things – the day was pretty hard. I went to the funeral of my Granny, who I loved sooo much! I don’t know what can ease my pain… But the good thing about all this was the meeting with my extended family. It made me think that I should spend more time with them and care for my older relatives much more.

    • Stacey, I’m so sorry to hear about your Granny :( I’m glad you had the opportunity to catch up with some of your relatives, but bereavement is always so hard. Take it easy and give yourself plenty of space over the next few weeks, won’t you?

      • Hi Stacey, I hope the funeral wasn’t too sad. But good you got to see your extended family. I think funerals should be treated as a celebration of the person’s life. I remember at my dad and my uncle’s funerals, I told a few funny stories about them, and everyone laughed which was good :)

        • stacey_dream 13 years ago

Thanks for your support, Glenn  The thing is, it’s a little different in Russia – people are crying and being hysterical at funerals. They are recalling the stories which only make your feel worse… You know, with general idea of ‘how-bad-it’s-gonna-be-without-hem/her’.

      • stacey_dream 13 years ago

Thank you for your support, squiggle! It’s really hard sitting here, at home, and thinking “God, aren’t I going to see her ever again?” :( I’m trying to get lost in reading and surfing the web, but those thoughts appear every now and then. I don’t even want to go to bed – because I’ll wake up in the morning, and it’ll be another day without my Granma. One more day which will steal my memories, her image, her voice… It’s hard to move on, but I will. I guess I have no choice.

    • Hi Stacey, I’m sorry to hear about your granny.I know it’s a difficult time – I lost my own granny 3 years back and I still miss her lots. You have to cherish the good times you had together. At times like this, it’s good to have your family around you. Takre care.

    • Hi Stacey! I´m so sorry for your loss. I also lost my grandmother about a month ago and it was also very hard, specially the funeral. I´m my case, I also got to see my extended family and now I´ll be traveling more to my hometown to spend time with them. Actually I´m going there this weekend.
Give yourself some time and sorround yourself by those you love. I wish there was something I could say/do that would make your pain go away.
      Take care.

  8. Children make me smile. I love their exuberance for life, their innocence and their literal interpretation! I love children

Positive thing for today: slept right through ’til morning; always good!

  9. Hearing or experiencing uncontrollable laughter…a bright sunny day…giving sincere compliments…receiving compliments…seeing relief in my patients after I’ve treated them…completing a project & knowing it was done very well…learning something new & seeing the results (latest is woodcarving)…working extremely hard all day to the point of exhaustion & being able to look back at the good days progress…a restful night of sleep, waking full of energy & ready to start the day. The list is endless & I’m accused of smiling too much (if that’s possible)

Daily positive…I was able to sleep in, going to work two hours late & have a very late meeting tonight but this meeting is very focused & productive towards making conditions so much better for people with a chronic disease.

    Have a great everyday!!
    ~D

  10. Lots of things make me smile – my kids, my cats:) I’ve been told I have a pretty smile, I just need to use it more:)

I saw a really cute girl today, with brownish gold curly hair running around..and she made me smile…

  14. What Makes You Smile?

    * sharing a great quote with others to inspire them
    * etc. etc. etc.

Do something that makes you smile today
Today was such a hot day and I decided to buy a tub of ice-cream home. That immediately puts a smile on my face and in my heart. We don’t always have desert after every dinner but tonight, guess what we’ll be having for desert??

Identify at least one positive thing about your day
    * managed to post my haiku and linked it to one of the poetry sites today. Been working on it for the
past 2 days. It’s here if you want to take a look http://awalkinmyheart.wordpress.com/2012/03/06/behind-this-facade/
    * the day went by smoothly, without any drama
    * will be having ice-cream after dinner (maybe I’ll have some first before dinner!)

    • For a moment there I was concerned you were going to say you ate the whole tub of ice cream! Then I kept reading and got the full story :)

The list is endless – there’s so much to smile about!

Do something that makes you smile today.

I’ve already done something today that’s made me smile. From my kitchen window I noticed a movement in the bare twigs of our hedge and saw a male sparrowhawk perched there. He was SO close and SO incredibly beautiful. A really magical five minutes.

One positive thing about today – I made a bowl of porridge for myself and my husband for breakfast this morning and it was delicious – must do that more often.

Seeing people smile is what make me me smile…!!!

  17. I smile when inside I know I have made gains a change or a movement toward my bigger purpose, when i realize – hey this behavior is for my better good!

  18. Lots of things make me smile: Messing around with my son, having a laugh with my family, chatting to friends, being close to nature, being productive and feeling positive about the future, comedies like ‘Black Books’, ‘Mock the Week’ or ‘Scrubs’, people like Darragh O’Brien, Omid Djalili, Germaine Greer, Janet Street-Porter (I find them funny!), Jo Brand, thinking or talking about my dreams, my aunty Paula, meditating, surfing, running, dancing  , reading something funny, yoga, painting and drawing, having good ideas, writing something I think is quite good, using NLP to visualise my future and motivating me, tidying up my house and moving things around so I am pleased with it, saving/making money and getting clear and organised.

I already have some tidying up to do so I think I will do that, although I am getting home late today so I will focus on using NLP to visualise my dreams and get clear and organised in my life.

    • Oh and feeling grounded and connected to GOD, doing ‘The Artist’s Way’ morning pages, dates and tasks, compliments, seeing someone I am attracted to ;), long conversations with good friends, random acts of kindness (carrying out and having for me). Living in the moment also, and hugs and massages. You guys are giving me ideas! So I might also work on the Artist’s way and do a random acts of kindness :)

      Love>Fear

      • Oh yeah and getting rid of stuff! I hate clutter and love giving things away to charity! :)

        • Oh yeah appreciating things and people, doing my best but valuing myself regardless of the outcome and accepting myself and others.

          • Hi all,

I got home late and didn’t have time to tidy up. However, I did go for a walk at lunch time as work was stressing me out. I looked around at the trees and listened to the birds singing and it really calmed me down as I love being around nature.

The best thing about my day was going to counselling. I went to talk about a relationship break-up and as I think I may have low self-esteem. The counsellor was lovely and asked a lot about my family. I realised my family and upbringing had more to do with it than I had realised!

  21. Lots of things make me smile. When my boyfriend gets excited over liitle details (like a meal i almost never cook, a letter he’s been expecting, a cute little puppy) that he starts to jump around like a little kid.
My little nephew, who turned 1 in january, also makes me smile a lot. he’s SO cute!
Flowers make me smile, hearing a song on the radio that i like, buying my favorite shampoo and seeing it’s on sale… and waking up to the sun shining.

What i did that made me smile today:
I talked with my boss, because i have a really nasty cold, and she gave me the day off and was really nice and supportive. My courage to talk to her (normally i would just have dragged myself through the day) and her support really made me smile.

    One positive thing about today:
My boyfriend, who leaves at 6:30 am everyday to go to vocational college, came back at 7:00 am because the trains to his workplace were cancelled due to the snow, and cuddled up in bed with me for another hour. :)

  22. What makes me smile, is when I’m at peace with myself..thts when I hv a true smile from within. Other tyms its jst plastic. Only those few moments when I’m completly satisfied that everything is exactly the way it should be after all. I’m an introvert so I’ll usually find this moment in my thoughts. Many times with my family, all of us jst being together happy. I also smile a lot when I’m with my boyfriend, he cn b so childlike( in e gud way haha) n funny smtyms..Nice,happy excited people make me smile too

  23. What makes me smile, is when I’m at peace with myself..thts when I hv a true smile from within. Other tyms its jst plastic. Those few moments I’m completly satisfied that everything is exactly the way it should be after all. I’m an introvert so I’ll usually find this moment in my thoughts. I also smile a lot when I’m with my boyfriend, he cn b so childlike( in e gud way haha) n funny smtyms..Nice,happy excited people make me smile too

  24. There are many things that make me smile: dancing, sharing with my good friends, my husband’s hugs, a kindness act and definitely see someone smiling, it is contagious. I love smiling and practice it every day : ) It is free and it makes you feel awesome, why not?

I‘ve just got my hug :shy: an additional smile in my day :D

Something positive: Today had a lovely lunch.

  25. A great many things make me smile. I smile every time I hear my husband laugh. I laugh when I watch the TV series, The Big Bang Theory. I laugh at people’s jokes and I laugh at some of the funny mistakes I make. I smile at rainbows and pretty flowers. I smile when my hubby says he loves what I cooked for dinner.
I had a happy weekend because it was quiet and peaceful.

  26. I am quite generous in terms of smiling, I smile when I am requesting something and also returning a thank you to people, when greeting them, so I smile quite a lot within a day. But a smile which is closer to laughing, I feel this most when I watch the videos of babies playing with puppies or baby animals playing with each other. Makes me feel so full of joy! We have pet birds in our house, while I am speaking to one of them the other tries to attract my attention and this makes me smile. Also my husband makes me smile
a lot, choosing the most irrelevant question at any position that I remain bizarre and start to laugh immediately

I will watch a few videos today, and will smile even more to people today

Positive thing for today is I received the reply from one of my best friends in return to my message telling how much she means to me, fantastic feeling
Sun is shining very bright today!

  27. What makes me smile?
Yes, I smile often just because smiling often lead to laughing – one of my most favorite activities.
I would say romance makes me smile, the start of something new. Pets (cats) made me smile when I had them, so during Easter I am eager to take a dog – because I like somebody that would only make me smile. Beautiful nature makes me smile. Good things and beauty in others makes me smile.

Today I am going to buy my mom flowers and than proudly smile. yes.

Positive today:I went to a first lesson of hip hop dance team and it looked pretty amazing.

  28. What makes me smile?

Watching the antics of our family pets, 3 dogs and 3 cats. Their unconditional love and affection always makes me smile. Yes, even my three outside cats are capable of showing their love and affection – until they decide to do something else! But most of the time they follow me around outside (like a pied piper) when I go out to feed the horse or walk down to the end of the long driveway.

And what else makes me smile? My husband greeting me with a big hug and a kiss every night when I get home from work. . .

  29. What Makes You Smile?

Seeing everybody around me SMILING and on positive mood makes me smile.
Good music, clean and orderly surroundings and knowing that I progress in everything I do, really makes me SMILE.

I’m also on a big smile when I’m with my camera. Capturing anybody’s HISTORY, laughters, happiness.
Another thing that makes me smile is when I’m doodling and when I’m holding my brush with those blank canvass :)

    • I lose track of time when I’m taking pictures – I love capturing those candid moments when people are being “themselves” as well as the simple pleasures of nature and animals. It sounds like you enjoy being creative and that makes both of us smile!

      Have a great day!
      Lisa

      • Yeah!!! So true! I love documenting those. Landscapes and Snapshot Photography :) It really motivates the viewer and the emotions being captured are so contagious.

Have a great day to you too LISA!!!

  30. What Makes You Smile? A lot of things. Being appreciated…helping others..other people’s happiness…seeing that someone left a comment on my blog…the satisfaction of doing something well…etc.

Task I helped my English teacher to collect the worksheets and sort them. It was a simple task that took 2 minutes but she was really appreciative and said thanks… That made a smile on my face.

Day 6 Positivity Exactly what I mentioned above. Smiling is such a positive thing to me. ;)
