14 Days. 14 Tasks of #Gratitude. Join the 14-Day Gratitude Challenge! [Sign Ups CLOSED]

This is the announcement post for the 14-Day Gratitude Challenge held in Aug 2013, where we practice gratitude for 14 days. The challenge is now over but you can do the tasks in your own time. Visit the overview page for all the challenge tasks.

Gratitude challenge

Do you practise gratitude in your life?

Do you love giving gratitude to others?

Would you like to cultivate the habit of gratitude?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, then the upcoming 14-day Gratitude Challenge is just for you!

Introducing: 14-Day Gratitude Challenge!

Come 15 Aug, I’ll be conducting a 14-day gratitude challenge, where participants from around the world will practice gratitude for 14 days till the end of the month (28 Aug, to be precise). Every day, I will post a task of gratitude which you have to complete within the day itself. The task can range from giving thanks to your food, to transforming an ungrateful thought, to showing your appreciation to someone.

At the end of the day, you are to report back to the site to share your results for the day itself and to join other participants in their discussions.

The challenge will end on 28 Aug, where you reflect on your journey of gratitude in the past 14 days as well as create your plan on how to continue practise gratitude moving forward.

This will be an extremely simple yet exciting challenge which will permanently impact your life as well as others’ lives around you. Given that it’s been almost eight months since I ran any challenge (the last one was the 2013 Countdown Challenge), I can’t wait to start this with all of you! :D

  6. Hi, Ces. I didn’t make it to 15-AUG but that’s because I only found out about the gratitude challenge the other day through someone’s RT. However, like what I told you I will still do it even if I didn’t start on the 15th. I’ve finished all the sign ups needed and I’m about to write my Day 0 post ( yup, I’m running a blog )

Today is Saturday and I am enjoying every bit of the day. My gratitude list so far today is as follows:
    1) I am grateful that my wife helps me around the house and is working so hard to get the carpets cleaned. Without her support I would never be able to keep up with the house and that would greatly impact my depression level.
    2) I am grateful for the friends I have. Attached to this is my gratitude for reaching out my comfort zone and allowing people to care about me even though I have afraid of being hurt again and of losing someone I love. I think when you lose someone you love it is very hard to find purpose and meaning in relationships -at least for me. I am grateful to those who have passed for planting that seed in me that life is enjoyable and is worth the risk.
    3) I am grateful for the hard lessons I have learned in my life. Without going through the trials and tribulations in my life I would not be who I am today. I can’t say I’m grateful for being abused but I am grateful for the lessons that came out of that situation. They have made me a compassionate and caring person who strives to see the worth and value in every person. I am grateful I do not hold the burning coal of revenge and have just decided to move on with my life and make the choice to have positive people in my life now.

Hello Everyone! Definitely count me in on this I love the whole concept!!! ;+) in fact this will position me in a good place to begin sending out “Love Letters” an idea I wanted to put in effect for years but never did now I’m encouraged to do so. Thanks Celes!!

Definitely doing this – but doing it in honour of my mum who died recently – each gratitude will be something that she did under that heading that I am grateful for .. then I’ll do it again for my life in general .. maybe I’ll do both together :-D might help this sad funk I have been in since mum died in July.

Aloha, I would love to join the challenge and it is my intention to express gratitude daily.

  13. Better late than never… I’m in! I revived an old blog to record my progress with the challenge. I combined days 0-2 into one post.

  14. I am late, but I am in….

  15. I’m in!! :)

Yes! I joined on day 0 — started two different types of iPhone-App journals and finally settled on using Evernote app, as it syncs between my phone and iPad and the fancier-covered ones I started with didn’t do that seamlessly. Technology! Some days I am grateful for it and some days I am not! I am excited to start on this journal/journey of Gratefulness and Gratitude as I am sure it will be a powerful tool for introspection as I consider all of the facets of my life that I am grateful for.

Count me in! I’ve been toying with different efforts at gratitude, but this sounds like a kick butt way to put it in high speed. Good timing for my life.

  23. Oh Celes, Here we are!!! I am so glad you are offering this wonderful gratitude challenge! It’s been awhile, but I always remember you and PE! I am on board with you and everyone…THANK YOU…Grateful to be here!
    THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!

  24. I’m totally signing up! I just got a journal and have been signed up for your newsletters for some time now. Thank you!

  25. Katherine Galvin 12 years ago

Hey Celes! Thanks for doing another challenge! I love these, please count me in, I could definitely use the help in being more grateful. =)

  26. Hi Celes! I would like to join too, it is a really good idea! I had just
today an experience – I was as a cyclist almost hit by a car (really
fast going..) and it was really his thoughtlessness – the red light was
there already for some time – for him, I had the green light a he just
went around me – I was in his way – he managed it somehow in that
    moment, thank God.

So I am grateful I am sitting here now with all my bones… I am really grateful it turned out well!

In my opinion people like this ‘driver’ would need this challenge much more than the people who are here ;)

Moreover I am just working on my anti-procrastinating habits (especially with my
Ph.D. and finishing things) – I like the course!, decluttering, my
inspirational room – it is really important, how could i live in such a
    mess (and feeling so bad..)!

Thank You so much for this blog, Celes, it is really helpful!
